Dr. Ames qualified as a doctor in 2000 from The Royal Free Hospital and University College Medical School, London UK, winning the Robert and Diana Dick Prize. She then went on to specialize in Internal Medicine, gaining Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 2005. Her efforts to focus on treating people holistically in the community led to her gaining a further specialist GP qualification MRCGP in 2006.She has an interest in Chronic Disease especially Diabetes. In 2009 she became a Diplomatate of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare, of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists. This means that she has a special interest in Women’s health and Family Planning and fits coils and Mirenas. She is a Certified Menopause Practitioner from the North American Menopause Society. Four years ago she started doing Telehealth Consultations to augment her practice for her patients, for their convenience. This end to end encrypted video service has become even more important to them during the COVID 19 Pandemic. To her knowledge she is the first doctor to ever offer this service locally. With the outbreak of the Pandemic this service has been providing a Telehealth COVID service to a Bank and Food Manufacturing Company. For this, Ames Medical Services actually won a Biz X America award! One of her passions is empowerment of patients by education, communication and technology. With this in mind she did a regular, live, phone in program called “Medicine Made Simple” with 103.5FM and (90.5FM) hosted by Marcia Miranda for 2 years 2015-2017.
